Read MoreAbstract: Given its location in the very heart of ancient Pārs Province in southwestern Iran, in the intermediate region between Bišābuhr, Firuzābād, Farāšband, and the Persian Gulf, Sar Mašhad is one of the most important regions for understanding Sasanian Imperial policy regarding urbanization and land use patterns. Since 2006, I have conducted several seasons of archaeological surveys in the region. During the most recent season in 2016, an intense landscape archaeological survey was combined with remote sensing of historical aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
